Angle measurement on a field sprayer

Contactless rotary encoders increase the reliability of field sprayers thanks to high shock and vibration resistance

When applying crop protection agents, the spray arms of field sprayers must always be at the correct angle. In order to be able to move the spray arms dynamically and trouble-free, angle sensors permanently measure the opening angles when folding out. Since the field can only be sprayed over a short period of time, constant machine availability is particularly important.

Your Benefits

  • Contactless rotary encoders for wear-free and fail-safe position detection of the sprayer boom
  • Extremely compact housing and magnet-free operating principle enable installation in confined steel structures
  • High electromagnetic compatibility guarantees continuous interference-free operation

Contactless and wear-free angle measurement

The contactless rotary encoders RI360P1-QR20 operate completely wear-free. Due to the distance between sensor and positioning element, exact angle detection is guaranteed to be fail-safe, even under high shock and vibration loads. The encoder also offers particularly high EMC immunity and is protected against conducted interference, the so-called load dump. The device is also protected against salt spray, rapid temperature changes as well as diesel and kerosene.

Thanks to the magnet-free inductive mode of operation, the IP68/69K encoder can also be mounted inside the metal housing of the steering axle. This enables the machine operator to perform a controlled and precise turning manoeuvre in the field.

The Turck QR20 angle sensor is the result of many years of industry know-how and cooperation with leading manufacturers of agricultural machinery.
